My Story

Ben Hall is a musician and an educator who focuses on supporting people and projects through his talent, analysis, and insight. Whether working with local individuals or national organizations, Ben brings the experience to offer elegant solutions to complex problems. His work has led to a number of honors from the Washington Area Music Awards and the Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award.

As an educator Ben has worked in various roles: private instructor, school teacher, and school-system administrator. He worked for the DC Public Schools for the last twenty years; first as a teacher in a multicultural school and then as the director of music for the school system. During his time with DCPS, Hall cultivated partnerships with both local and national organizations such as Washington Performing Arts (WPA), the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Yamaha Corporation, and VH1-Save the Music. He coordinated a $4.5 million budget and oversaw the professional development for the school-system’s music teachers.

As an active freelance musician, Ben continues to perform with a variety of groups in diverse genres from Ethio-jazz to Afro-Caribbean to American Top 40. He has performed throughout Europe, North America, and Central America with various performers including Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Lee Konitz, the Four Tops, the Temptations, and Ernie Watts.

Ben is currently working on multiple projects through his new venture, The Music Consultancy. The mission of this organization is to help individuals and groups of musicians to achieve their goals by focusing on their vision, their music and their business. Through a laser-like focus on the client and their current situation, the company offers specific insights and solutions.
